Burmester

Burmester produces Port wines from the Douro Valley in Northern Portugal, drawing on the region's steep terraced vineyards and schist soils. The winery's portfolio centers on traditional fortified expressions built from the classic Port grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Cão. The Fine Old Douro Port, a blend of these five varieties, represents the house's core offering and has earned recognition from Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, and Falstaff. The Colheita Port—a single-vintage expression—and the Tordiz Ultra Reserva Porto, made from Touriga Nacional alone, extend the range into more concentrated territory. These wines reflect the Douro's character: deep color, structured tannins, and the oxidative complexity that defines aged Port. Burmester's focus remains on the fortified tradition that defines the region.
