Celler Gritelles operates in Montsant, a region within Tarragona that has emerged as a serious source of Mediterranean wines. The winery works with varieties native to Catalunya: Macabeo, a white grape prized for its mineral structure and aging potential, and Garnacha, the region's signature red. Siurana Brisat, a Macabeo, and Garnatxa Vinyes Velles 714, made from old-vine Garnacha, represent the winery's core offerings. Both have been assessed by Decanter. A third wine, Tros de La Serra 1714 Macabeu, rounds out the portfolio. Montsant's slate and schist soils, combined with its continental climate moderated by Mediterranean influence, shape wines of distinctive character—whites with tension and depth, reds with earthy complexity and restraint. Celler Gritelles' focus on these indigenous varieties reflects the region's terroir-driven approach.
