Domaine des Varoilles produces Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, one of Burgundy's most prestigious communes. The winery holds monopole parcels—vineyard sites it alone controls—in two premier cru designations: La Romanée and Clos des Varoilles. Both monopoles, along with the premier cru Champonnet, represent the core of the domaine's output. These are old-vine expressions of Gevrey-Chambertin's characteristic structure: dark fruit, mineral tension, and the silky tannin profile that defines fine Burgundian Pinot Noir. The wines have been assessed by Decanter, Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, and Wine Enthusiast. Gevrey-Chambertin itself sits at the heart of the Côte d'Or, where limestone-rich soils and cool continental climate shape wines of depth and aging potential.
