Domaine Thomas

Domaine Thomas works Chardonnay in Saint-Véran, the southern reach of Bourgogne where limestone soils and continental influence shape wines of mineral precision and restraint. The house produces two expressions of the appellation: Vieilles Vignes Saint-Véran, drawn from older plantings, and Tradition Saint-Véran, its counterpart. Both are white Burgundies in the classical mold—lean, structured, built for the table rather than immediate gratification. Decanter, Wine Spectator, and Wine Advocate have assessed the range. Saint-Véran itself occupies a particular place in the Burgundy hierarchy: less celebrated than Pouilly-Fuissé to its south, less grand than the Côte d'Or to its north, yet capable of delivering authentic Chardonnay character at a measured pitch. Domaine Thomas's focus on this single appellation and single variety reflects a commitment to depth over breadth.
