J & P Matheus
J & P Matheus works the steep slate slopes of Piesport, a historic vineyard district in Germany's Mosel valley. The winery focuses on Riesling, the region's signature grape, drawing from two classified vineyard sites: Goldtröpfchen and Michelsberg. The JPM Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Kabinett expresses the delicate balance characteristic of the Mosel—mineral precision and subtle sweetness in a lighter frame. The JPM Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling offers a complementary expression from the same terroir. Both wines have been assessed by Wine Enthusiast. Piesport's cool climate and weathered slate soils produce Rieslings of particular finesse, and J & P Matheus's vineyard selections reflect that tradition of site-specific winemaking.
