Sumarroca

Sumarroca produces sparkling and still wines from Penedès, the historic wine region southwest of Barcelona. The winery works primarily with indigenous Catalan varieties—Xarel-lo, Macabeo, and Parellada—grapes that define the character of Cava, Spain's traditional method sparkling wine. The Núria Claverol Homenatge, a single-varietal Xarel-lo, represents the winery's focus on the mineral, citrus-driven potential of this local grape. Sumarroca's Cava expressions, including the Temps de Flors and the Brut Nature Gran Reserva, blend these varieties to create wines with the precision and complexity expected of serious sparkling production. The Brut Nature Gran Reserva incorporates Chardonnay alongside the traditional trio, adding structure and depth. Wines from Sumarroca have been assessed by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, and Decanter.
