Tenuta Baiocchi
Tenuta Baiocchi works the heart of Tuscany, in Chianti's southern reaches near Montepulciano. The winery's portfolio centers on two of central Italy's most structured red wines: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, built from Sangiovese and Canaiolo Nero, and Montefalco Sagrantino, the austere, tannic expression of its namesake grape. Both demand time in bottle. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva—pure Sangiovese, aged longer still—represents the upper register of the range. Wine Spectator and Decanter have rated across the lineup, recognizing the precision and depth these wines achieve. Sangiovese here shows its classical character: high acidity, firm tannins, earthy undertones. Sagrantino adds a different register: darker, more muscular, with the grip that defines the variety. These are wines for the cellar and the table alike.
