Vadio

Vadio produces wines from Bairrada, the Beiras region of central Portugal known for its challenging maritime climate and distinctive terroir. The winery focuses on indigenous varieties that define the region: Baga, the dark-skinned grape that demands skill to balance its tannins and acidity, and Bical, a white variety with mineral precision. Rexarte, a Baga-based wine, represents the winery's engagement with the variety's potential for structure and depth. Tinto, made from Bical, and Grande, another Baga expression, complete the core range. These wines have been assessed by major international critics including Wine Advocate, Falstaff, Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Spectator, reflecting Bairrada's growing recognition among serious wine professionals. The region's cool conditions and schist-based soils create conditions for high-acid, age-worthy reds and whites—a profile that demands patience and food pairing rather than immediate gratification.
