Weingut Friedrich

Weingut Friedrich operates in the Pfalz, Germany's warmest wine region, where continental influences and sandy soils create ideal conditions for both red and white varieties. The winery's Spätburgunder Trocken—a dry Pinot Noir—demonstrates the region's capacity for structured, elegant reds. Alongside this flagship, Friedrich produces two Rieslings: a Kabinett Trocken and a Spätlese, both capturing the varietal's signature balance of fruit and acidity. The Kabinett style offers lighter body and lower alcohol, while the Spätlese, made from late-harvested grapes, carries greater richness and complexity. Falstaff has assessed the portfolio. The winery's range reflects Pfalz's dual identity—a place where Riesling remains central to the region's identity, yet where warming conditions have enabled serious Spätburgunder production.
