Vallegre produces wines from the Douro, the steep-terraced river valley of Northern Portugal where old vines thrive in schist and granite. The winery works with the region's classic varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and others that define Douro red wine. The Douro Reserva Especial Vinhas Velhas, a blend of five indigenous grapes, has earned recognition from Falstaff, Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, and Wine Spectator. Vista Alegre Colheita Porto, a fortified wine drawing on seven varieties, reflects the winery's command of the region's traditional styles. A varietal Touriga Nacional rounds out the portfolio. These wines show the depth and structure that the Douro's demanding terroir demands of its producers.
